Teen Challenge is a unique program that addresses the core issues addicts and alcoholics face. Teen Challenge is more than detox — more than a 12-step addiction program. We offer our residents (referred to as students) quality faith-based counselling, mentoring, vocational training and most of all a chance at a new start in life! And you can help.

For over 30 years, Teen Challenge has been ministering to Canadians trapped in addictions to alcohol and drugs. Every month we see young men and women graduate the one year program and take that first step in a new chapter in their lives.

Street Names: juice, meth (also used to refer to methamphetamines)

Methadone was created by German scientists during World War II. They were looking for a pain reliever made with common precursors (ingredients) to help alleviate the opium shortage at the time.

Methadone is an opioid, a synthetic drug made to mimic the effects of opiates such as heroin or morphine. Methadone is available on the streets as a drug of abuse, and will produce the same euphoric high as other opioids such as Oxycontin, when taken in large enough quantities.
