Frequently Asked Questions

Apply Now

I’ve completed the online form, what’s next?

When your application has been received, our Intake team will take time to review the information. After this review, they will reach out to you directly to clarify any information and walk you through the process.

How much does your program cost?

A $100* non-refundable fee is required to process your application. Upon acceptance, a one-time $1000 entrance fee is required upon admittance into the program.

*$100 application fee can be paid online.

Can I still apply if I’m unable to pay the fee?

Our program is meant to be accessible to anyone confronting substance use disorder where we do not want finances to be a barrier for anyone.

Please speak with our Intake Coordinator to discuss any financial concerns that you may have.

Is there a waiting list?

Depending on the timing and centre location, there could be a waiting list. However, flexibility to attend different centres in Canada reduces this likelihood.

To inquire about your status, please speak with your Intake Coordinator.

If your name is Teen Challenge Canada, why don’t you accept teenagers?

Our organization started in the 1950s as a ministry for troubled teens in New York City. Since then, it has grown to help men and women worldwide overcome substance addictions. The Canadian government regulations stipulate we can offer treatment to individuals over the age of 18.

Do I have to be religious to attend your program?

No, while our program is faith-based and includes biblical, Christian teaching, you do not need to be religious to attend. We are committed to demonstrating God's love and believe there is a spiritual component to the recovery process which is a differentiating factor of our program.

We do ask that those attending are open to participating in the program.

What addictions are addressed through Teen Challenge Canada?

Our focus is on substance use disorders involving alcohol and drug addictions. However, clients may find freedom from other addictions by walking through the steps of our program targeted at substance abuse.

Can I attend the program if I have outstanding legal problems?

A criminal record does not necessarily prevent you from entering the program. However, your Intake Coordinator will be able to answer any questions you have that are specific to your situation.

Do you offer Opioid Replacement Therapy?

At this time, we can only accommodate individuals who have been prescribed Sublocade prior to entering our program.

Please speak with your healthcare provider before making changes to your medication.

Do you provide detox services?

No, we do not offer detox services at our facilities.

Please speak with your Intake Coordinator about entry requirements concerning detox.

Is smoking or vaping allowed in the program?

No, our centres are completely smoke and vape free. We do allow eligible clients to use nicotine replacement therapy for a period of time.

Why is the program 12 months when others are 30 days or 90 days?

It takes time to make meaningful shifts that result in lasting change. During a 12-month program, clients have time to heal through counselling and intentional growth. They learn how to identify triggers and establish a strategy for dealing with them in the future. They have time to work on restoring relationships and rebuilding their life as they discover their identity in Christ.

What does a typical day in the program look like?

Teen Challenge Canada is a highly structured program. A typical day includes time for personal devotion and reflection, counselling sessions, academic classes, work therapy, recreational activities, life skills classes and study time. All your meals will be provided.

Are visitors allowed during the program?

Yes, there is a schedule for having visitors while participants are working through the our program. Periodically we host family days that are open to all clients. As you progress through the program, you earn passes that allow you to leave the property for a pre-determined time which allow for reintegration and practicing skills learned through therapy in the real world.

Can I still use my devices (cell phone, laptop, video games, etc.) in the program?

When you enter the program, we will limit your use. However, as you progress you will gain more access.
